Is
there a deposit to secure my spot? How much is it?
(If applicable.) Yes. In addition to deposits that
Colorado Adventure Sports must pay to secure
accommodations, transportation, entertainment, and
other items, extensive planning, preparation, and
purchasing goes into every activity. Therefore, we
require a nonrefundable deposit on most activities
in order to secure your spot and cover expenses to
our providers. Please see the specific activity for
the exact amount.

(Return to Frequently Asked Question

When
is my deposit due?
(If applicable.) Deposits secure your spot in any

and have cut off dates.

What
is your refund, cancellation, and change policy?
These
policies are meant to cover all activities. Some items
may or may not apply to your activity.
Refunds
(If applicable.) You may cancel your activity any
time prior to the activity cut off date and receive
a full refund, minus any nonrefundable deposits. See
the pricing of your specific activity for these amounts,
if any. You may transfer your deposit to another individual
(you may be charged a change fee - see below). It is
the participant's responsibility to find a replacement.
Unless specifically noted, activity cut off dates
are 30 days prior to the activity. No refunds are
available after the activity cut off date or after
the activity has started.
No
refunds will be issued for unforeseeable acts, weather,
or other circumstances. In the event of unforeseen
weather conditions or other acts/circumstances that
do not permit an activity to take place, the activity
may be rescheduled and/or a partial or full credit
may be available. This is handled on a case-by-case
basis and is usually dependent on Colorado Adventure
Sports obtaining refunds from any accommodation
or other service providers. No guarantee is implied.
No
refunds will be issued if you or your child/participant
is required to leave an activity for emergency or
medical reasons. However, a prorated, transferable
credit may be issued if the participant is unable
to return.
No
refunds will be issued if a participant is required
to leave an activity for behavioral reasons or violations
of company policies, such as the use of drugs, alcohol,
and smoking. This behavior will not be tolerated and
may be cause for immediate removal from the activity.
Cancellations
(If applicable.) Cancellations must be submitted in
writing, (email is best) prior the activity cutoff
date. Please include the participant's full name,
contact number or email, and the activity event/session
they are registered for to receive your refund (minus
any nonrefundable deposit).
It
is your responsibility to ensure we have received
your email or other written request. Be sure to check
with us by phone (or other method) if you do not receive
a response to your request within 24 hours.
Changes
(If applicable.) Once registered for an activity,
you may change your activity session or the actual
participant(s) based on two factors; availability
and the timing prior to the activity. Normal cancellation
policies apply if there is no availability.
If
your change is submitted prior to the cut off date,
no fee will apply. Activity cut off dates are usually
30 days prior to the activity. If your change is submitted
after the cut off date, a change fee of $100 will
apply.
Changes
must be submitted in writing, (email is best). Please
include the participant's full name, contact number
or email, and the activity event/session they are
registered for, and any new information such as a
participant or newly requested session.

Company
Questions
Who
is Colorado Adventure Sports?
Colorado
Adventure Sports ("CAS") is a non-profit
501(c)(3) organization that is non-political, non-partisan,
and non-religious. CAS was created to provide memorable
and educational experiences for underprivileged, at-risk,
and disadvantaged youth.
CAS
provides these positive experiences through various
summer camps and other activities throughout the year,
each designed to capture and retain the attention
of our youth. While kids are participating in CAS
activities, staff and guest presenters incorporate
a core curriculum of various life, communication,
and career development skills that will help them
throughout their lives.
Our
mission is to make a positive difference in the lives
of the youth and teens we come into contact with,
one at a time. We want to give an opportunity to those
individuals that might not have one otherwise. The
life skills and curriculum we incorporate into our
activities are not always something that a youth or
teen can obtain in their everyday environment, but
may be critical to their long-term success as a person.
We do our best to fill in the gaps.

Summer Camp Questions
What are summer camps all
about?
Colorado Adventures Sports summer camps are about
opportunity. The opportunity for our youth and young
adults to experience exciting, new sports and activities,
some of which they normally wouldn't have access to,
while learning an unassuming curriculum of life skills
that can help them throughout life. Regardless of
background, education, race, gender, or circumstance,
we believe it's not what cards you are dealt or where
you start, it's how you play the game and how strong
you finish.
Getting
young minds to think outside of their "box"
is component of our curriculum. The more backgrounds
and knowledge they are exposed to, they more they
can learn to think and act for themselves later on
in life.

Who
can go and who should come to a summer camp?
We welcome youth and teens of all socioeconomic or
other backgrounds. Whether you are dirt poor, just
on the fringe of sustaining, or spoiled rotten with
love or money, you can benefit from our curriculum
and activities if you apply yourself. Regardless of
where you started in life, we hope to help you learn
some basic skills to help you further along in life.

Am
I qualified to attend a summer

always financially based), any youth or teen can attend
a camp.

(Return to Frequently Asked Question
Topics)
Why
should I go to summer
camp?
In addition to creating lifelong memories, meeting
new people, making new friends, or for teens, preparing
for college, the number one reason is that you will
learn something new while having a blast!
(Return
to Summer Camp Questions)
(Return to Frequently Asked Question
Topics)
Do
you have an age requirement for summer
camps?
Yes, due to insurance requirements, we have a minimum
age of 10. Youth camp ages are approximately 5th through
8th grade. Teen or young adult camps are high school
aged teens, or 9th-12th grade.
(Return
to Summer Camp Questions)
(Return to Frequently Asked Question
Topics)
What's
the average age at summer
camp? How many to a session?
The average age is 12 at a youth camp and 16 for a
teen camp. Because we try to create a very personalized
experience for each participant, we limit each session
to no more than 10 total participants. We may offer
multiple sessions simultaneously.

(Return to Frequently Asked Question
Topics)
What's
the counselor to participant ratio?
In order to provide the best teaching and learning
environment, we feel that an ideal counselor to participant
ratio is important. This ensures that each participant
receives the special attention they may require. We
keep a maximum ratio of 5 participants to each counselor,
but most often it's a 3 to 1 ratio.
Teen
camps have a higher number of guest and specialty
speakers than youth camps but we don't include those
persons in the ratio.

(Return to Frequently Asked Question

Do
you have a drug, alcohol, and smoking policy?
Yes, but we have rarely had to even mention it outside
of orientation.
If
anyone is caught with drugs or alcohol, their parents
or guardians (if applicable) will be contacted immediately
and they may be sent home. If applicable, no refunds
will be issued.
In
addition, we have a no-smoking policy anywhere near
our camps, vehicles, and facilities, no exceptions.

(Return to Frequently Asked Question

What
types of things do you teach at a summer
camp? What's the curriculum?
The ultimate goal is to build/reinforce their self-esteem
and confidence to the level that they realize that
they are responsible for their future and they can
achieve their goals, whatever they may be, or wherever
they may have started in life. Regardless of their
socioeconomic background, race, religion, or obstacles
that may stand in their way, hopefully, we spark their
dream, put fuel on the fire, and motivate them to
act for themselves.
In
the teen camps, we review a variety of life skills
and topics we teach in our youth camps, such as peer
pressure, self-esteem awareness, listening and communication
skills, how to make new friends and get along with
others, courtesy, respect and consideration, leaving
no trace, respecting life, the importance of setting
goals, the importance of reading, thinking for themselves,
how to run for a student body office, nutrition, and
several other topics as appropriate to the session
or guest speaker.
In
addition to the life topics mentioned above, we spend
a considerable amount of time in and out of the teen
camps (over 3 summers) discussing college planning
and preparation, such as the writing of resumes',
college essays, and applications. We also discuss
PSAT and SAT preparation and planning, and actual
college course suggestions and selections, as well
as developing a long-term plan for each teen. We have
frequent visitors from college admission administrators,
financial assistance and planning administrators,
and other educational speakers and guidance counselors,
as well as those on our own staff.
We
cover a vast amount of topics, but the primary goal
is for each teen to feel confident, prepared, and
excited about receiving the best education they can
in college, to prepare them for an ever-changing flat
world.

How
much time is spent in activities versus learning?
We have to keep everyone interested and involved so
we divide the time up about 65/35. 65% of the time
they are participating in a fun activity, and 35%
of the time, they are learning something valuable.

What
should I expect at a summer
camp?
You can expect to learn something new, have a great

friends. Teens can expect to start thinking about
and planning their college years.
